No More Rude Awakenings with Sleep Cycle App

I love my sleep.

I really do.

I guess that’s one of the many reasons why Artie and I are putting off having a baby at the moment. The thought of having to wake up every 2 hours to do feeding and getting a maximum of 3 hours of sleep on a daily basis is scaring me.

I need my 6-8 hours of quality sleep so I can function normally. Otherwise, I’d be nauseous and dizzy the whole day, and since I’ll be feeling quite sickly, I’ll end up getting anxious whether there’s something seriously wrong with my body. Hello, panic attacks.

So yeah, I love my sleep.

I’ve also recently discovered how important it is to sleep during the proper times, meaning sleep at 10PM and wake up at 6AM.

My moods have been better ever since I’ve adjusted my sleeping hours from 4AM-12NN to the proper times.

To better improve my sleep, I also use this app called Sleep Cycle.

I’ve also realized that with sleep, it’s important for us to wake up properly.

Do you use an alarm clock? Isn’t it annoying when your alarm suddenly blares in the morning waking you up from deep sleep?

That’s the worst way to wake up! Your head feels heavy, you feel groggy and disoriented. Most likely, you’ll end up reaching for the snooze and just end up going back to bed.

Sleep Cycle App prevents that from happening as this app wakes you up during your lightest sleep state. Instead of suddenly pulling you out of deep sleep, it’ll wake you up gently therefore waking you up in a more rested and relaxed state.

So how does Sleep Cycle work?

Simply, Sleep Cycle detects your movements while sleeping using the iPhone’s accelerometer. If it senses you shifting in bed during the set waking up time, mostly like you’re in a light sleep state and that’s the only time it’ll alarm.

Very easy to use. Just set the alarm to your desired waking up. Within a period of 30 mins and your waking up time, it’ll detect your sleep movements and wake up you during your lightest sleep state.
After setting your alarm, all you have to do is place your phone on the bed like this. It's suggested that the phone be plugged in the whole night but I normally don't follow that. I just make sure my phone is fully charged before sleeping and I wake up with around 75% charge in the morning.

And in the morning when I wake up, I get to see this awesome analysis of my sleep! Totally geeky, huh?

I climbed into bed at around 1230, started drifting off to sleep at around 130AM. I woke up at 4AM to get a drink and woke up at around 730 which is before the alarm clock went out.

As you can see, I’ve been using this app for a total of 288 nights already. Almost a year! This app is something I can’t live without as it really helps me wake up easier in the morning.

This app is really cool and I definitely recommend this if you want some aide when it comes to better sleep 🙂

Will the app work if there’s another person in bed with me?

Yup, it definitely will!

Artie and I sleep in the same bed and there’s no problem with the app analyzing my sleep even though he’s a restless sleeper who keeps moving around in bed.

It’s really funny, too, as it senses when Artie climbs into bed. The chart suddenly peaks to ‘awake’ and if I know I didn’t wake up, it’s mostly likely Artie climbing into bed.

So, when I ask Artie what time he slept, he can’t lie! Hur hur hur hur!

Go download this app and let me know if it works for you!

  1. pero masisira nga yung analysis nya pag may kasama ka sa bed. since deep sleep ka dapat pero katabi mo is awake, iisipin ng app awake ka so kung time for alarm, gigisingin ka kahit deep sleep ka.

Calvin, possible though it has never happened before. Since nasa side sya ng bed ko, pag small movements from Artie hindi nya na sesense. Only when he goes to bed kasi mag sha shake talaga yung bed.
