Today’s agenda: watch the Pacquiao-Algieri fight live in Macau!
//platform.instagram.com/en_US/embeds.jsWhen we were planning this spontaneous trip, it was a long discussion whether to fly straight to Macau from Manila or to stay in Hong Kong and then go on a day trip to Macau via the ferry to watch the Pacquiao-Algieri fight.
Since we enjoyed our Hong Kong trip last April, we all voted for the Hong Kong option.
But I suppose, if I had to choose all over again, I would choose to fly straight to Macau instead.
Never again will I go on a day trip to Macau from Hong Kong!
Don’t get me wrong.
It’s actually quite easy to travel to Macau from Hong Kong via the ferry.
What’s really annoying about it though is the amount of time spent on waiting.
We spent a good quarter of the day (roughly 4-6 hours all in all) lining up for immigration, waiting to board and riding the ferry to and from Macau.
Maybe, if we decided to stay a day or two in Macau, it wouldn’t have felt so exhausting.
So here’s a tip – If you’re in Hong Kong and you want to see Macau while you’re there, do try to stay in Macau for a night or two, if budget permits.
Don’t do a day trip. Else, the only thing you’ll remember is the long wait for boarding and immigration.
The ferry ride itself wasn’t as bad as a thought it would be. It just felt like riding a bus.
The ferry ride from Hong Kong to Macau takes around 45 minutes to an hour. From the Macau terminal, it’ll only take you around 1o minutes to get to Cotai Strip, the area where most of the casinos and hotels are.
You can take a cab at the terminal, but there are a lot of hotel shuttles which can bring you to your destination for free.
Most, if not all boxing fights are always done at The Venetian Resort Macau where the Cotai Arena is located.
When we got to The Venetian, we went to the lobby to get our Pacquiao-Algieri tickets and off we rushed to the Cotai Arena.
I didn’t get to take a photo of the casino part of The Venetian because photo taking wasn’t allowed.
And here’s the Cotai Arena!
After waiting for the previous fights to finish, the much awaited fight now begins!
I was really surprised that I enjoyed watching the fight live. I’m normally very apathetic about Pacquiao fights and the only reason why I even bother to show interest in them is because Artie and his family are huge fans of the Pacman.
Pacquiao fights are always a special event in their house hold.
While they watch the fight and cheer, I would half-watch the fights while going over my social networks.
But surprisingly, watching the fight live is so much more different and much more exciting!
You’ll hear people cheering and jeering and the energy of the crowd adds so much more to the experience!
It’s definitely something you have to experience at least once in your lifetime.

After the fight, my family
shamelessy tried to camp out and catch Pacquiao for a picture or an autography. Unfortunately, we still haven’t eaten lunch and it almost time for us to leave Macau.
So in the end, we had lunch at the food court and left Macau via the ferry at 630PM.
We got to Hong Kong at around 730PM, but since the immigration line was so long, we got back to our hotel at almost 9PM!
And since it’s our last night in Hong Kong, I decided to squeeze in some quick shopping.
Here are my Hong Kong loot this time around.
Compared to last time, I didn’t buy too much. My only major purchase this time around were the two items from Make Up Forever at 240HKD each. I also bought a travel wallet from MONKI for only 60HKD!
Remember when I said I’ll travel more in 2015? This is my way of asking the Universe to conspire with me! It’s my pet peeve when my wallet can’t fit in different sized currency. The gold wallet I got from MONKI is big enough to fit any currency of any size (and amount!).
Another one of my obsessions are milk teas. I love looking at groceries and bringing home uniquely flavored instant milk teas!
And to end the night, a #selfie.
I’m sad to leave but I’m ready to come home! I can’t wait to see my kitties! ❤
